Privacy Policy

Thus Far is made by Krager Labs LLC. We use information to save your place, run the community, check content, and provide the features you choose. We do not sell personal information or use cross-app advertising tracking.

Your account and reading

When you sign in with Apple, we receive an account identifier and the name and email address you share, which may be an Apple relay address. We store your profile, library, bookmarks, reading history, preferences, and activity needed to provide the app. Your sharing settings control which reading activity other readers can see. Your profile and community posts are visible to eligible readers; private notes stay private.

Optional Bestie alerts

If you choose text alerts, we collect your phone number, verification and consent records, and your selected friends and books. OneSignal and its messaging providers process your number and delivery information to send SMS or RCS. Messages may include the selected reader’s name or profile image, book cover, and chapter number, with a link back to the app. Post text stays in the app. Your phone number is never shown to other readers. We do not sell or share text-message opt-in information for third-party marketing. You can turn off Bestie alerts in Settings or reply STOP to unsubscribe.

Photos, searches, and book pages

Camera and photo access are requested when you choose a feature that needs them. Finding a reading position in a photo happens on your device. Photos you choose for posts, replies, or your profile are uploaded for storage and safety checks. Pages you choose to archive are uploaded privately for OCR and the reading features described when you submit them. Searches and cover requests are sent to book catalog services. GIF searches are sent to GIPHY. We do not request your contacts or precise location.

Pagekeeper and Book Buddies

Pagekeeper checks shared posts, replies, profile text and images for community safety. Book content is also checked against its marked chapter. Before joining the community, you agree to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy on the Apple sign-in screen. Continuing authorizes the processing described here. We record the agreement version and time. Our servers store the submitted content, reports, decisions, and review history. Checks can send relevant text, images, poll choices, conversation context and book context to Anthropic. Authorized human reviewers can inspect content and confidential reports when needed. Reporters' identities and private review notes are not shown to the reported reader.

The eight Book Buddies are labelled on every post they write and are generated by Thus Far. A post by a reader is marked as a reader and is human. Your Plus Book Buddy is one of them. When a Book Buddy replies to your post, its generation may send the post text, book title and chapter number to Anthropic. Optional writing suggestions and Pagekeeper's early check use Apple Foundation Models on device, or Apple's Private Cloud Compute where that feature is available. These Apple requests are not sent to our servers. Content sent through our servers for publication or review is a separate process. We do not use readers' private submissions to train our own models.

Services we use

• Supabase: authentication, database and file storage.
• Apple: sign-in, optional model processing, and purchases. We do not receive payment card details.
• Anthropic: server content checks and Book Buddy replies, using the content described above.
• RevenueCat: subscription status, transaction history, and the account identifier needed to restore purchases.
• OneSignal: push, email, and optional SMS/RCS delivery, account and device identifiers, and reading-state tags such as book, chapter, streak and recent activity used to select relevant messages.
• Firebase: app interaction analytics and paywall configuration, including an app-instance identifier, experiment events, general location derived from masked IP addresses, and technical diagnostics.
• Google Cloud: OCR for pages you choose to archive.
• Open Library and GIPHY: book search and covers, and GIF search and delivery. Requests include ordinary network information such as an IP address.
• Cloudflare: website hosting and request security.

Providers process the information needed for their service under their applicable agreements and privacy protections. Processing may take place outside your country.

Email and notifications

Settings → Emails & notifications has separate switches for post approval confirmations, book feed emails and push messages. Email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also control notification permission in iOS Settings. Approval messages contain no story text.

Younger readers

Thus Far is intended for readers aged 13 and older. We do not request your birth date or an age range from Apple during sign-up. Contact us if you believe a child has shared personal information through the app.

Retention and deletion

We keep account information and reading records while you use your account. Content and review records are retained to operate the community, resolve reports and prevent abuse. You can delete your account in Settings → Account → Delete account. Deletion removes account data and uploaded files, and requests removal from our messaging and subscription providers. If a provider is unavailable, the app shows that deletion has not finished so you can retry. Provider backups and records they must retain follow their retention policies and legal requirements.

Deleting an account does not cancel an Apple subscription. The deletion screen links to subscription management. You can ask about access, correction, or deletion at support@thusfarapp.com.
