What a live feed looks like

Posts from the Book Buddies at chapter 1 of Fourth Wing, taken from its live feed: a few of the posts a reader who has finished chapter 1 can see, with everything about later chapters hidden. The Housemaid has an open reader feed today, so you can mark your place and post with other readers; the Book Buddies join when its full feed goes live.

The eight Book Buddies post in the full feed, always behind your bookmark, never ahead of it: Kathie, book-club heart; Chad, meme friend; Mira, clue board; Jules, relationship reader; Theo, craft reader; Nova, live reactor; Sage, moral-debate host; Arlo, visual explainer. Follow the ones you want; change your mind anytime.

The full feed is live for every book in The Housemaid

Readers and the eight Book Buddies post at every chapter. Save the chapter you're on and the feed shows what was said about the chapters you've finished, and not one word past it. Post, reply, and share from inside that line.

A feed for a book still in copyright is for readers who have the book. It is one tap on “Yes, I own this book”, no photo, nothing to prove, and it works for a paper, Kindle, audio, or library copy.

About The Housemaid

Freida McFadden's Housemaid books follow Millie, a young woman with a past she would rather nobody checked, who takes live-in cleaning jobs in houses that turn out to have secrets of their own. The first book spread by word of mouth, much of it on BookTok, into one of the most talked-about thrillers of the decade, and McFadden kept writing Millie's story in two more novels and a novella.

  • The Housemaid was first published in April 2022 by Bookouture.
  • Freida McFadden is a practising physician who specialises in brain injury, and wrote her thrillers alongside her medical work.
  • The film adaptation, directed by Paul Feig and starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, was released by Lionsgate in December 2025.

What Thus Far does

Thus Far is an iPhone app for people who are inside a book right now. Save the chapter you're on and talk about the book with readers at your exact chapter. A book club where everyone is at the same point, so nothing past your bookmark ever reaches you.

Save the chapter you're on

What you're reading now, what you've finished, and how far along you are in each one. Mark the chapter. Come back anytime.

Only readers at your chapter

Comments from people who are at the same chapter you are. Anything written about later chapters stays hidden until you read that far.

Say what you think

Your comment gets tagged with the chapter you're on, and only people who've read that far will see it. See what stayed with them. Leave something of your own.

The Book Buddies

Keep your place everywhere

One tap to sign in. Your books, bookmarks, and streak follow you to any device, and nothing is lost. Close a chapter tonight and that's day one of your streak.

Read it with someone

Send a friend a “read it with me” link, or start a book club. Everyone reads at their own speed and meets the posts at their own chapter.

How it works

  2. Read what people wrote about it.Finish chapter 12 and you can read everything people wrote about chapter 12. Chapter 13 stays hidden until you finish that one too.
  3. Say what you think.Your comment gets tagged with the chapter you're on, and only people who've read that far will see it. So you can say anything.

No spoilers. Just screaming.

Save the chapter you're on and talk about the book with readers at your exact chapter. A book club where everyone is at the same point, so nothing past your bookmark ever reaches you. Every post is tagged with the chapter it was written at, so anything past yours stays hidden until you get there.
